Our servers at FOC are the most important part of our community, without them; we wouldn’t have a community. As such, everything about their operation is of a vital concern to all of our players and all of our players contribute to how they run. This page details everything from financially sponsoring a server to everything performance related. This is a very important page to read through to help ensure we can all be good stewards of the servers we are on.
Sponsoring a Server #
The Server Commissioner is the individual who is monetarily supporting the server. This person is the representative for your server to become the Commissioner of a server you must meet one of two criteria.
- You must be the person to sponsor a new map and be in the large tractor or higher role. (One time server start up fee and $20 monthly donation tier or higher)
- Be the longest serving large tractor or higher tier resident on a map that has no Commissioner. ($20 monthly donation tier or higher)
If you are moving to sponsor new or existing server/map your land can be sold to other players or it can be sold to NPC at appraised price via a realtor.
If you are sponsoring a new or existing server/map within 30 days of becoming FM, the land will be returned to NPC by the staff team and will not be available for auction. You will receive 100% NPC land value in this instance
More information on donation tiers can be fount here: Ko-fi

Server Resets and Map Replacements #
Some of our servers are exceeding one year save files, others are 6 months old but much more active. In order to preserve stability we’ve experimented with resetting maps save files. We’ve found success and have made parameters and rules for doing so.
If all map members agree, you may request to reset your map. The following will take place:
- Map save will be reset to original version.
- You keep all land, equipment and cash balances.
- Terrain will be reset and trees will return.
- You will receive 50% compensation for your placeables/buildings.
*All livestock is to be sold by the player.
If you wish to reset and replace with an existing FOC map the process is similar to a standard reset with some key differences:
- The map sponsor or someone willing to become sponsor will be required to hold a Large Tractor or higher subscription and pay a $20 sponsor reset fee.
- Server will be reset and the map replaced with a fresh save on the chosen replacement map.
- You keep all equipment and cash balances.
*Equipment should be stored in virtual garage during this process. - You will need to sell land to NPC and secure new land via the new server auctions.
- You will receive 50% compensation for your placeables/buildings.
*All livestock is to be sold by the player.
1x Maps #
Historically, we have not allowed 1x maps but as time goes on and with Prestige being an option we thought it might be time to allow these as some are very high quality. Our experience in the past has made us weary of this change so for now, we will be onboarding one new 1x map with the following restrictions. If it is received well we will be open to additional 1x maps in the future.
- If the original sponsor of a 1x map leaves the map, the map in question would become liable for closure should the number of active FMs drop below 2 (i.e. only 1 active FM remaining).
- If the map is closed, FMs will be required to sell land to NPC via a realtor and will not receive any form of compensation. Impacted FMs would be eligible to purchase land in the normal manner and move to another map.
- Due to the limited availability of land, FMs will be restricted to a total owned map acreage of 250 acres.
Note, no additional land sales will be run on these maps to account for their average smaller size at this time.
16x Maps #
Traditionally 16x maps have struggled in FOC, particularly as they have aged and/or become busy with multiple large farmers working lots of land simultaneously. Users may experience performance related issues, so please spend some time on the map contracting or visiting prior to committing to a move.
If you move and find the map unplayable, your only course of action would be to sell up and move as you would normally, so please take that into account before joining. You join 16x maps at your own risk.
Performance #
We try to do everything we can to ensure our servers are performing at the peak that they can and minimize downtime. There are things that you can do to help with performance for not only you but your fellow Farmers. Many things affect a server’s performance and your online gaming experience. Here are some of those things.
The Computer you play on #
A computer with FS 22 bare minimal requirements:
- Windows 10 64bit
- Intel Core i5-3330 or AMD FX-8320 or better
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 660, AMD Radeon R7 265 graphics card or better (min 2GB VRAM, DX11/DX12 support)
- 8GB RAM
- 35 GB free hard drive space
- Sound Card
- NOTE: Mac Users- there are known issues with Mac and the FS 22 Developers that can and will interfere with your gameplay and/or ability to join certain servers. If you experience issues joining or playing on servers when using a Mac, we will not be able to assist you with fixing them at this time as the problem is outside of FOC control.
What will make for a better experience for you and fellow Farmers is the addition of:
- 16 GB RAM
- Windows will use 4GB and game up to 4GB then you still have to render map changes
- Solid State Hard Drive
- Has faster speeds than HDD for reading Mods and data exchange
- 50 GB or more free hard drive space
- Maps and Mods can take up a lot of real estate on a drive
Internet #
Having a good internet speed for uploads and downloads will reduce lag while playing on servers.
Server Location #
Choosing a server close to your region of the world for your FM slot will decrease your lag. We currently have US, European, and Australian Servers
Game Play #
While playing on the Servers, there are a couple of things you can do to help performance load on the Server.
- Place bales in storage as soon as possible
- Place pallets in storage as soon as possible
- Try not to leave Bales strapped to trailers
- Try not to leave Pallets strapped to trailers
- Use the Virtual Garage to store equipment not used often
- Utilize Sheds with doors (helps with rendering)
- Don’t go crazy cutting down trees if not logging
- Sell, chip, or remove all parts of cut trees before logging off server*
- Remove all stumps prior to departing server*
- Do not leave trees partially cut, once you beginning cutting them they must be completely removed.*
- DO NOT overlap triggers or Buildings*
– Note- *These offenses may result in fines being issued, so make sure to read the rules concerning these mechanics.
Logging on Servers #
The logging of non spruce/pine trees can cause issues which directly impacts server performance and in extreme cases cause servers to crash leading to save game reversion. It is acceptable to cut these trees in small numbers, however, mass logging and clear cutting should be avoided at all costs. If you do encounter issues, you will no longer be allowed to cut down any further on the parcel and you will not be compensated. Giants logging physics is notoriously sketchy and this is further exacerbated by the fact that not every map has trees that are fully optimized for FS22. Some maps have trees that were converted from FS19 or even FS17> 19> 22. It is important that we learn to live with these non pine/spruce trees and come to appreciate their intended function as decorative objects. Clearly, there will be occasions where we need to remove a small number of these trees to clear a yard area or to create access points; this is ok, but taking it to extremes with a scorched earth policy is not. Spruce and Pine generally perform better, so feel free to cut those within the confines of the FOC rules.
